Our Papa's the Best

Yes that's right my pops is one of The Greats! He is turning 78 this year and yet I can't think of anything he can't do. He is pretty incredible if I do say so myself...

He came out to Colorado just a few weeks ago and the first thing he did was went out to the garden to help out. The man never tires I tell ya! Well ok he does of course after all he is human but it takes a lot.

See I told you he tires. Of course you don't get much sleep with so many grand babies lol. My pops has been an inspiration to everyone he meets. He has worked hard his whole life and works to this day. My pops does not like to be bored and from what I hear he never really has been (but those stories are for another day haha).

You all recall in one of my more recent posts I showed you some of our fantastic Father's Day gifts? Well once my dad saw his he of course wanted a photo for his dad (my pops)! So I happily obliged!

I had to make two separate photos for him as there are so many of us. The top photo is my daddy and us kids. So my pops son and his grand kids. The photo below is of my babies so my pops great-grand kiddos! It was a lot of fun creating these for him. In my book he won't ever know or understand just how much he means to us all.

We all love you Papa! You're pretty much the coolest guy we know. The kids and I are so happy to be spending some time with you...

(I swear he doesn't sleep often! Lol)

She's Got Talent

Ok so my baby sister (which I have three) but I am talking about baby, baby sister hates when we all nag on her about her artistic abilities but I am gonna! She is incredible! The girl can draw I tell you... She doesn't do anything with it right now and doesn't seem to have much interest in it but the girl can create some amazing art. Ask her to create a sketch and things she draws in a matter of minutes would take me at least weeks if not months to do.

Hahaha! Here you can see the smirk on her face since she knew I was taking a photo. When the girl starts to draw we all accumulate around her!

My dad was working on a project for my papa. He asked my sister to help him out. He can't draw like he use to on a count of how sick he is so he put her to work and he helped out.

There were some areas that just needed touch ups like in the photos below...

But dad wanted more characters added so...

My awesome, artistic sister drew some things from scratch on this clock and they look awesome! I will post photos of the finished project at a later time. As you  can see the girl really does have some talent! Keep it up Kelsi, love you!

Mommy Shopping Day

One thing my mom does every year is she buys $50 worth in clothes for each kid on their birthday. This year for Skylar per tradition we went on a mother-daughter shopping day! My mother went just a little over board for her this year ($111!) but she was very thankful she got a new summer wardrobe. My kiddo is a bargain shopper let me tell you. She was finding clothes on sale left and right! "Mom look only $3!" Target and Penny's had some great outfits this summer. She left with roughly 15 new outfits in different combinations. Total rockstar my daughter! After some awesome deals we went and got some ice cream...

The other kiddos got to hang out with Aunt KK before we got back home. It was a fun day for us all!

Daddy Day

Father's Day was amazing this year! The girls and I made and created so many cute little gifts. They will all be so special for Danny as they grow up. One idea had been circling Pinterest for a little while an I thought it was adorable! With four little girls he would absolutely love it...

I took this idea and created my own little version. The girls had the cutest things to say about their daddy.

The finished photo!

It turned out great don't you think? We also created a book that was "All About Daddy". My goodness they had some fun with that! My girls had so much fun that I decided to make some great little gifts for my dad as well. Now I always get him something but the girls and I had a lot of fun this year making special gifts.

Top photo is what the kids made for Danny and this bottom photo is my dads gifts from the girls and I.

Finally my girls saw a photo on Pinterest (of course) and decided last minute they wanted to do that as well...so...Happy Daddy day babe. We love you so much!

Independence Day

Today we all have our traditions, our time spent with family and wonderful friends. It's a day where many take the time to really think of the men and women that have and continue to sacrifice their lives for our continuing freedom. I love this day! Then again I love everyday...I think of friends in all branches of service daily. My thoughts are constantly on my father whom was once a Marine and now waits ever so patiently for a new kidney. We have to remember that the men and women who serve never stop sacrificing. They don't have days off (at least not like the rest of us). They sacrifice their lives in more ways than one. It's heartbreaking to think about how many moments a father misses with his children from being on duty. I know my husband misses more moments than he would ever want to with our kids and he comes home every night. I am so grateful for those men and women, those mom and dads...you are incredible! Thank God for those like you. To all my amazing, incredible, selfless, heroic family and friends... THANK YOU!!!

That being said my three girls and I (my oldest is with her daddy back home) had a fantastic, relaxing day. It started with a parade, ended with fireworks over the lake and had a BBQ thrown in the middle. Kiera (4 years) asked me who's birthday it was today...I responded by telling her today was Americas birthday. She got very excited and in an squeaky voice exclaimed "so it's everyone's birthday?!" Yes kiddo something like that lol. I loved explaining our true independence and why it is celebrated today. I loved telling her about our constitution and that in this family we will always believe and follow in that great piece of American history.

Happy Independence Day to you all!
